Nights goes on to inform Sonic that he's currently in Herbegitan. Nights also explains he was once the emperor of this planet's Light Side.
To clear up Sonic's confusion, Nights provides a more detailed explanation of Herbegitan's history. He then informs Sonic that the two of them need to head to Herbegit Temple to retrieve the Holy Sapphire. This incredibly important stone is what maintains the balance between good and evil on the planet.
Sonic proceeds to show Nights just how quickly he is able to move when the situation calls for it. After briefly teasing Nights for being slow despite the fact he can fly, the two head inside of the Herbegit Temple. After seeing the Holy Sapphire, the two discover retrieving it is going to be more difficult than they first thought.
