SONIC GAMES have always been the center of attraction for all gamers. They have always been rated top among the legendry SEGA mascot. After the success of Sonic 2, SEGA decided to go with the same tried and tested formula for the sequel. Sonic 3 for all intents and purposes, is very much a continuation of the series. In sonic 3, Sonic and his sidekick, Tails go to the Floating Island for Chaos Emeralds which Dr. Robotnik is once again seeking. A new character is introduced into the series: Knuckles. He is an echidna who makes his home on the Floating Island and Robotnik has convinced him that Sonic and Tails have come to steal the Chaos Emeralds for themselves. As a result Knuckles places many hurdles in way of our Heroes from completing their quest.

Stages in Sonic 3 are twice as large as in sonic 2, and they are all beautiful. Another change is every level now features a boss fight instead, of just the last level of each zone. Another welcome change is the upgrading of Sonics shield power up. It contains the flame shield, the water shield and the lightning shield. Another one of Sonics new powers is his Insta-Shield. The Insta-Shield is better suited for offense than defense. A new character in sonic 3, Tails takes on a more prominent role in this game, too. One distinct change in Sonic 3 is that Sonic will not become Super Sonic as soon as he jumps, but only when he hits the button a second time after his jump. This is helpful if you want to collect more rings before going Super Sonic.

The best part of Sonic 3 is that the Sonic 3 now saves the gamers progress on the cart, and gamers can choose any stage from a completed save game. The only negative to Sonic 3 is the 2-player competitive mode which is easily overlooked as two-player cooperative play is still possible in sonic and Tails mode. But the one player mode is the best part of it.

Graphically, Sonic 3 has divided gamers for years. Many maintain that it's the best looking 2D titles in the series while others feel it's inferior to the gorgeous Sonic 2. In Sonic hedgehog 3 the visuals are good but there's something not quite right here. Plus, the game showcases the infamous 'dotty' textures that many Mega drive/Genesis games had around this time. The music is well...the usual SONIC THE HEDGEHOG GAMES tunes.
